Recently water baptism was declared to be
"False Doctrine" on a Facebook post. I post the following scriptures
not to say that water baptism is superior to baptism by the Holy Spirit, nor do
I contend that you can't be saved without receiving it, or to condone the
practices of the fallen "church". Regardless of whether what is done
in the conformed to the world institutions is Biblical or not, because of their
fallen nature all who stay inside of them will eventually be lost.
Water baptism was commanded by the Lord after
He'd risen from the dead, and either performed or commanded by His apostles
before and after the day of Pentecost. To declare it "False Doctrine"
is wrong, and the scriptures below should prove to anyone that it is not
Biblically correct to believe so.
Mat
28:18 - 20 And Jesus came and spake unto
them, saying, All power is given unto
me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with
you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Act
2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the
things concerning the kingdom
of God, and the name of
Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Act 8:36
- 39 And as they went on their
way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is
water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest
with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still:
and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he
baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the
Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his
way rejoicing.
Act
10:47 - 48 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which
have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be
baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Act 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of
purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose
heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of
Paul.
Act 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household,
she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the
Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
Act 16:32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord,
and to all that were in his house.
Act 16:33 And he took them the same
hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and
all his, straightway.
Act 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the
synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians
hearing believed, and were baptized.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
1Co 1:14 - 17 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but
Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I
baptized any other. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the
gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of
none effect.
